No documented founder, sponsoring organization, or establishment record has been identified for National Elizabeth Day. It circulates as an informal name-appreciation day on social media and small holiday-listing sites.
The greeting that became a prayer
This second Elizabeth was the wife of the priest Zechariah and a relative of the Virgin Mary. When Mary arrived to visit, an encounter known as the Visitation, Elizabeth greeted her with "Blessed art thou among women." Those words survive today inside the Roman Catholic Hail Mary.
