How we ran this poll

Every study on this site is a fresh poll. Here’s exactly how this one was run.

To determine the most popular Halloween candy in each state, Holiday Calendar conducted an online survey of 3,500 young adults aged 18–34 between October 1st and October 15th, 2024. This age demographic was selected to capture the preferences of Americans most actively purchasing and consuming Halloween candy, both for trick-or-treaters and personal consumption. Respondents were recruited through a nationally representative online panel, with the sample distributed across all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Demographic quotas were applied for age, gender, and household income within the 18–34 range. Respondents were presented with a list of 40 nationally distributed candy brands and asked to select their single favorite Halloween candy. State-level winners were determined by plurality vote. The survey has an overall margin of error of ±1.7 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
