The Universal Record of Holidays
Holiday Calendar serves as the central, definitive source for all celebrated observances. We believe that if a day is recognized, honored, or celebrated by a community, it deserves a place in the historical record. Our mission is to provide the infrastructure that organizes these moments by transforming scattered cultural traditions into a verified, permanent registry.
We do not make judgments on the validity or importance of a holiday. Our role is to observe and record factual history, not to endorse products or propose policies. While we collaborate with organizations, brands, and individuals to document their initiatives, our editorial standards remain fixed. Every entry must meet our primary source requirements to ensure the Registry remains an objective archive for the community.
The Registry is a living archive. We update records and data visualizations as soon as new primary evidence or government proclamations are released. We actively correct human errors in text and factual inaccuracies. If you see an error on our site, we encourage you to report it to registry@holidaycalendar.io.
We gather data from disparate sources such as legislative gazettes, historical archives, and social media trends and standardize them into a clinical, easy-to-grasp format. We strip away promotional fluff to provide neutral, purpose-driven definitions that explain exactly what a day achieves.
We offer a complete view of global holidays, from global UN mandates down to niche community traditions. We do not filter for size or status. If an observance exists in the public consciousness, we research it. Our scope is absolute and covers three primary categories:
We don't just list dates; we provide the who, when, and how. Our reports include historical context by comparing modern observances to their original founding documents or cultural roots. We parse data by geography and founding entity so readers can better understand how these observances affect their specific communities.
We are open about our data sources and methods. We cite primary sources for our origin statements and link to founding documents whenever available.
We also use artificial intelligence to assist in processing vast datasets and drafting initial text for our registry. However, all text, labels, and date patterns are thoroughly fact-checked and audited by the Holiday Calendar Team to ensure accuracy, neutrality, and adherence to our registrar standards. Visit Our Methodology page to learn more about how we verify and classify holidays.
