Why World Obesity Day is Important
It raises awareness of the global obesity crisis
World Obesity Day serves as an important reminder that the global obesity crisis is real. It helps to bring attention to the fact that this growing health condition is not only affecting individuals, but also entire communities in both developed and developing countries around the world.
It encourages action & prevention
By raising awareness about obesity, World Obesity Day helps promote healthy lifestyles by encouraging people to make healthy food choices and get regular physical activity. It also aims to encourage governments and policy makers to take action and put preventative measures in place to address the problem of rising obesity rates.
It provides support for those affected
World Obesity Day offers a collective platform for people who have been affected by obesity to come together, tell their stories, and access resources from organisations working on this issue. By providing support and information, it helps create a sense of community amongst those facing similar issues and encourages acceptance and understanding of different body shapes and sizes.
