Texas Revolution Begins

The Texas Revolution against Mexico began on October 2, 1835 with the Battle of Gonzales.

Texas Independence Declared

On March 2, 1836, Texas declared its independence from Mexico and became the Republic of Texas.

Battle of San Jacinto

On April 21, 1836, Texan forces led by Sam Houston defeated Mexican troops at the Battle of San Jacinto, effectively winning Texas's independence.

Texas Annexation
