It's time to stand up and speak out in support of victims of sexual abuse on National Speak Up for Victims of Sexual Abuse Day on Oct. 18! This special day was created to bring awareness to the issue of sexual abuse, which is an unfortunately common occurrence in our society today. It's also a chance to honor the survivors who have bravely stepped forward, as well as those who are still struggling with their trauma. By joining together and raising our voices, we can create a supportive environment for all survivors and work towards ending this horrible crime.

Title IX Legislation

The US federal legislation Title IX is enacted, prohibiting sex discrimination in any educational program or activity receiving federal financial assistance, which includes sexual assault and harassment cases.

EEOC's Landmark Decision

The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) holds that sexual harassment can constitute a violation of Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Clery Act Enactment

The Clery Act is passed in the US, requiring colleges and universities to disclose information about crime on and around their campuses, including cases of sexual abuse.
