Every study on this site is a fresh poll. Here’s exactly how this one was run.
To determine the most popular Valentine's Day candy in each state, Holiday Calendar conducted an online survey of 3,000 Americans between January 28th and February 10th, 2024. Respondents were recruited through a nationally representative online panel and screened to include adults aged 18 and older who reported purchasing or receiving candy for Valentine's Day in at least one of the past three years. The sample was distributed across all 50 states and Washington, D.C., with demographic quotas for age, gender, and relationship status. Respondents were presented with a list of 25 Valentine's-themed and popular candy brands—including conversation hearts, chocolate boxes, chocolate-covered strawberries, and seasonal offerings from major confectioners—and asked to select their single favorite. State-level winners were determined by plurality vote. The survey has an overall margin of error of ±1.8 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
