How we ran this poll

Every study on this site is a fresh poll. Here’s exactly how this one was run.

To determine the most popular Christmas candy in each state, Holiday Calendar conducted an online survey of 3,000 Americans between November 20th and December 5th, 2023. Respondents were recruited through a nationally representative online panel and screened to include adults aged 18 and older. The sample was distributed across all 50 states and Washington, D.C., with demographic quotas for age, gender, and region to reflect the broader U.S. population. Respondents were presented with a list of 30 popular holiday candy and confection options—including candy canes, peppermint bark, chocolate truffles, seasonal favorites from major brands, and traditional homemade varieties—and asked to select their single favorite Christmas candy. An open-ended write-in option was also available. State-level winners were determined by plurality vote. The survey has an overall margin of error of ±1.8 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
