Holiday Calendar surveyed 3,000 Americans from May 10th - May 25th, 2024 to discover each state's favorite wine to drink.
Ranked first through fifth, 51 states and territories.
Every study on this site is a fresh poll. Here’s exactly how this one was run.
To determine the most popular wine in each state, Holiday Calendar conducted an online survey of 3,000 Americans between May 10th and May 25th, 2024. Respondents were recruited through a nationally representative online panel and screened to include adults aged 21 and older who reported consuming wine at least occasionally (once per month or more). The sample was distributed across all 50 states and Washington, D.C., with demographic quotas for age, gender, and household income. Respondents were asked to select their favorite type of wine from a list of 20 popular varietals and styles, including red, white, rosé, and sparkling options. State-level winners were determined by plurality vote. The survey has an overall margin of error of ±1.8 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
The map and the numbers are free to use. We only ask for a link back to the study so readers can see how it was measured.
