International Bacon Day began in January 2004 among three graduate students at the University of Colorado Boulder, and Alexa Halford has said Seth Rittenhouse was the one who proposed it. The organisers' own site records the first annual Bacon Day in 2005, and Halford told TODAY that Labor Day weekend was the only time of year the group could get together and cook, which is why the day sits on the Saturday before it.
International Bacon Day ran on September 5. Here’s who celebrated with offers this year.
